Abstract - This paper presents a real-time wireless control and monitoring system using a programmable logic controller (PLC). PLC is a control device that is highly specialized and optimized to handle control events in real-time, and it is widely applied in the field of home and industrial automation control. On the other hand, Wireless PLC devices are new to the automation market, and it is considered to be complex with limited flexibility and high maintenance costs for home and industrial applications. In this paper, we present a novel approach of implementing a low cost, improved performance, and greater flexibility Wireless PLC system using Arduino and ZigBee protocol as the wireless communication interface. The evaluation results show the effectiveness of the proposed design and its feasibility in real-time wireless control and monitoring home and industrial application.
