This paper discusses a design of ship engine deflection detection system using a proximity sensor for smart device. The proposed system can measure deflection of a crankshaft and a bottom dead center of crosshead in real-time. The proposed system is able to monitor status of the crankshaft and prevent critical breakdown. In addition, users can monitor the status of the ship engine using smart device anywhere, reducing time waste.
