This paper proposes a traffic light control system (TLCS). The goal of the system is to support drivers by providing them with early traffic light information and traffic flow information before arriving at intersections. Hence, the system is useful for preventing traffic light violations and traffic accidents that happen at intersections when drivers are confused of the state of traffic lights. Moreover, the system can help drivers reduce idling time, and fuel usage of their vehicles. In addition, traffic lights can be controlled to regulate traffic flow by counting the number of vehicle-to-system connections. Experimental results have proven that TLCS can reduce vehicle idling time, and the number of traffic light signal violation cases which can lead to traffic accidents at intersections.
