Abstract: In this paper, a new topology control scheme is proposed that enhances the network lifetime by saving the energy consumption of sensor nodes in wireless sensor networks (WSNs). The network topology is first modeled as a directed graph. According to a residual energy and a packet reception rate (PRR) of the next hop, packets are forwarded through the optimal path to guarantee an energy balance among sensor nodes. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme is fully effective for extending network lifetime in WSNs.
