This paper presents a cooperative transmission scheme for underwater acoustic sensor networks. The suggested cooperative scheme includes networking protocols and cooperative transmissions at the physical layer in order to enhance the reliability by providing diversity gains through intermediate relay nodes. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme reduces average energy consumption and end-to-end delay, and increases packet delivery ratio comparison with the other schemes.
