This paper proposes the use of selective approach to determine which node is suitable to act as gateway and relay in Wireless Body Area Network (WBAN). In this approach, Nodes rotate their roles as gateway and relays in order to optimize the Quality of Service (QoS). A Link Aware and Energy Efficient Scheme for Body Area Networks (LAEEBA) was adopted to implement this approach. To further increase the QoS of the system, a thermal energy harvesting scheme is proposed using a Thermo- Electric Generator (TEG). The results depicts an increase in the lifetime of the system when the selective approach is deployed.
