This paper locates the optimal position of the beacon nodes in an indoor industrial environment by eliminating the position error from the distance vector (DV)-hop algorithm using the metaheuristic monarch butterfly optimization (MBO). To minimize the cost function, the proposed system uses MBO mechanisms: migration operator and butterfly adjusting operator. The proposed scheme succeeded to find the optimal position of the anchor node for an indoor industrial environment and outperformed the classic distance vector hop algorithm in terms of minimizing the localization error.
