This paper proposes a position prediction system for a midget Manless submarine that enhances submarine operation capability by calculating more precise position data. While sailing underwater, position data from INS(Inertial Navigation System) is used but it causes submarine operation problems due to deteriorating reliability for a real position by big position error in case of longtime underwater operation with no GPS(Global Positioning System). To reduce position error, in this paper a position prediction system is proposed to produce more accurate midget submarine position by which receives roll, pitch, speed and depth data from various navigation sensors and performs preprocessing, filtering, post-processing and data distribution. The simulation results by MATLAB show that position accuracy of position prediction system has better result that of INS.
