The laws on thermodynamics are used to quantify and understand the events that occur in the phase and temperature change of matter. The design makes use of the said laws in the determination of the time set before ice melts, through a scientific approach. The research focuses on the physical laws and applies them onto an ATMega328P microcontroller. The design sheds light on the possibilities of a scientific approach in predicting the time before all ice melts through the measurement of the weight of ice, consideration on the material of the storage, and temperature of both the environment and ice. In testing the device, a linear regression analysis was used in conjunction with the t-test. The prototype was a standalone device that displays the time at which ice melts and proved useful to the client.
