IEEE 802.11n is the improved version of IEEE 802.11 standards with higher data transmission rate. This improvement make IEEE 802.11n has a better QoS from the previous version standards. However, the improvement still cannot meet QoS satisfaction especially for industrial applications such as real-time video service. To tackle this inefficiency, this dissertation proposed a dynamic rate adaptation algorithm for industrial wireless networks to prioritize video over audio and text data. Since the video is sensitive with delay condition, it will get the highest priority among the other data. The proposed algorithm check the network condition based on the received signal strength indicator (RSSI) that are sent by receivers along with the clear-to-send (CTS) frames. Another algorithm is implemented also in this system, called Traffic Shaping Algorithm, to prioritize the video.
