This paper proposes a new MAC protocol that is used for data gathering in Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) employing Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV). The proposed MAC protocol is based on conventional CSMA/CA protocol. In this protocol, the nodes only active when it's in a vicinity of the UAV. Moreover, The nodes are prioritized based on where the nodes are located within UAV communication range. The nodes located farthest from the center of UAV active area will get the highest priority. On the other hand, The nodes located closest from the center of UAV active area will get the lowest priority. Hence, the nodes have same chance to access the UAV channel. Also, the proposed MAC protocol used deterministic backoff scheme instead of Binary Exponential Backoff (BEB). By doing this, the nodes able to avoid future collision among the contended nodes. This protocol not only brings the fairness; but also enhance the throughput performance as well as the energy efficiency of the nodes. The simulations are performed in NS-3, and the result shows that it can achieve fairness as well as enhance the network performance.
